I am Lemonheep, a queer nerd who is mainly a hobbyist 2D artist and aspriring system administrator, but often also a home cook and a gamer. I've mostly been doing small projects here and there in my free time, though I hope to get better at things like making comics, 3D art, and webdev in the future.
This web-space by itself is nothing too special. It's a dedicated space for my artworks and other creative works for anyone to browse through (and not just those with a Smigglo/Bidjen account or whatever). However, I feel that more and more of us need to get back into making personal websites. It's honestly the best representation of your online self, where you're free to present you and your creations in any style and layout you want!
So, after a bit of consideration, then some work on its HTML and CSS stuffs, I've redesigned my web-space! I wanted to apply the new web-dev skills I have learned, and this web-space needed some sprucing up.
Specifically, not only did I want a bit of change to my style to have more shades of blue (my fave color :3 ) and look nicer, I also wanted to add some new stuff! First, my index page needed to feel more lively. Just my 'sona's face, one notice, and a few links works pretty fine, but it's cooler if there was more neat shit in it. So, now there's not only a short introduction message, but also links are in there as well (where they're easier to access) instead of just in a separate page, plus I moved the fun 88-by-31 buttons here too, along with new artwork of my 'sona. Second, the pages needed some improvement when it came to navigation, especially when they are getting longer and longer as I add more stuff in. As a result, I added in "Skip to:" sections, so rather than scrolling for old art, one could just click the links to the sections they are on. By the way, you could totally link just a section of your web-page! Just add in an "id" attribute to them, then type in "#" then the name of that same attribute onto a link somewhere else (either on the same page or on a different page). Third, this web-space is in need of others' cool stuff to link to. This is the thing that I really wanted to add to this web-space for the longest time. There's a lot of reasons to use the internet, from intimate communication with others far away from you to publishing high-quality creations for a worldwide audience to see. Personally, sharing is what makes the Internet click for me, from sharing high-quality media that others would enjoy to sharing helpful resources that would improve others' lives. So, linking all of these works in two new pages is what this web-space desperately needed and finally got. Only thing I need to figure out now is to see how to reduce the size of my art pages' thumbnails, since they are still bogging down the performance a whole lot. Maybe I'll see if there's anything I could use for bulk image conversions. Overall, all these big changes have really spruced up this website, and it feels so much nicer to go through now.
